Patrol Pack:

1. ALICE pack with frame or other form of pack (i.e. butt pack with harness and belt pouches)
2. First Aid Kit
3. Canteen and kit - U.S.Issue: a) canteen, b) canteen cover, c) canteen cup, d) canteen stove, e) water purification tablets
4. 300 to 400 rounds of ammunition (typically 5.56mm/.223caliber)
5. 50 to 75 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition (or what ever your sidearm uses)
6. Spare Magazines (i.e. spare clips)
7. Flasahlight (preferable MAG light) with spare batteries for it
8. Light Sticks (chemical light)
9. 550 cord, or 'Para cord'
10. GI Compass with case (preferred) - GPS is a nice supplement
11. Ponch, or rain gear
12. Face Paint (camo makeup)
13. Rappel rope: 150-ft.
14. Rope bag
15. 12-ft rope (for Ranger's Harness)
16. Carbiner (minimum of 1, preferably 2)
17. Gas Mask with spare filter
18. 3 or 4 large construction trash bags
19. Hearing protectors (i.e. ear plugs, ear muffs, etc.)
20. Binoculars
21. Toiletry items in zip-lock bag (i.e. bar of soap, tooth brush/paste, BIC lighter, matches, etc.)

Optional Items:
A. Mess kit
B. Camo Duct Tape
C. Fuel bars (cooking heat)
D. Food for 1 or 2 days

This list was made to help pack one's Patrol Pack (a.k.a. Combat Rig). Remember, one wants to keep the items in it to a bare minimum because one will be hauling this pack on one's back. However, if there is enough room, feel free to add anything - just make sure one has the essentials! Note: contents of pack may vary with each user, mission, etc.
